Jill Stirling, a kindergarten teacher at Wadsworth Elementary School, is Flagler County's 2010 Teacher of the Year, and Aimee Mock, Executive Secretary at Pathways Academy, is Flagler County's 2010 Employee of the Year.

The announcement was made by Superintendent Bill Delbrugge at the Annual Teacher and Employee of the Year Gala Event held January 14th at the Flagler Auditorium.

Jill Stirling has been an elementary school teacher for 12 years, the last four in Flagler County. Jill’s first teaching position was in Northern Ontario, Canada where she taught on an Ojibway Native Reserve, a village with one corner store for ALL your needs and the mode of transportation a snowmobile. Jill says, “I have taught in two countries, three counties, and six different schools; and Flagler County is by far my favorite! I enjoy going to school each and every day and look forward to seeing my kindergartners faces every morning! Five year olds are fascinating and I feel so fortunate that I play a part in their education and future.”

The Employee of the Year, Aimee Mock, is a native of Flagler County and a graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School. She has worked for the past 4 years at Pathways Academy beginning as a classroom paraprofessional and more recently serving as Executive Secretary. Aimee says, “I truly believe that we should live by example for all children, teaching them to make “good choices”, and to be kind to one another. Never break their spirit and always encourage them to strive for the impossible.”

Space Coast Community Credit Union, Publix Super Markets Charities, Inc., Flagler/Palm Coast Kiwanis Club, Flagler Auditorium, and Flagler County Education Foundation were the major sponsors of the annual Teacher and Employee of the Year Celebration.
