Our Risk Management Department consists of several different job functions. We work as a liasion with the Northeast Florida Education Consortium (NEFEC) in accordance with the NEFEC Risk Management manual and the School District of Flagler County Comprehensive Loss Control and Safety Program. This program includes investigation of accidents and incidents which includes workers compensation claims, bus accident claims, liability claims, theft and storm damage and employee and student accidents. In accordance with this we complete the Risk Management program renewal annually along with all insurance renewals for our school district. Our department evaluates safety complaints and recommends solutions.
Risk Management also performs inspections of all facilities related to the Flagler County School District. These inspections include Life Safety, Casualty and Sanitation Inspections, Fire Safety Inspections, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Inspections, playground inspections and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Inspections.
The Risk Management Department also works closely with the Emergency Operations Center during inclement weather. We coordinate shelters when needed and ensure that we have shelter, food and transportation during hurricanes and other emergencies. We also coordinate weather alert notification for the school district. Lastly, the Risk Management Department conducts our Safety and Security Self Assessment that we present on an annual basis to the Florida Department of Education.
