| To apply to be a substitute, follow the steps below. |

STEP 1 - Submit Application Requirements Complete an online employment application. You must list three references in the Reference section of the application. Be sure to include your current or past employers. One may be a personal reference but can not be family. Phone numbers must be included. - Submit official transcripts indicating that an Associates degree or higher has been awarded. If your degree was earned outside the United States, you must provide an evaluation of your degree. Transcripts can be mailed to Human Resources at 1769 E. Moody Blvd, Bunnell, FL 32110.
- Submit a copy of a valid driver's license and Social Security Card.
- Read the required reading material for Substitutes.
- Complete and print the New Hire Forms for Substitutes.

STEP 2 - Fingerprint & Background Clearance - Come to the Flagler County School District Human Resources office (1769 E Moody Blvd, Bunnell, FL, Building #2) to be fingerprinted. No appointment is necessary. See Fingerprint Authorization Form for fingerprinting hours.
- Bring completed Fingerprint Authorization Form.
 - Bring money order or proof of credit card payment for $56.25.

STEP 3 - Board Approval - Upon completion of the pre-employment paperwork, required reading, background/fingerprint clearance, reference checks and verification of credentials, the applicant's name will be submitted to the agenda for Board approval. This can take up to two weeks or more if paperwork is incomplete and/or missing (such as references, transcripts, etc.).
- Upon Board approval, applicant will be contacted by the Subfinder Coordinator and issued a pin that will allow the applicant to register for substitute teaching jobs.
STEP 4 - Prepare to Receive Jobs - Record your name on the Subfinder phone system by calling (386) 206-4648. You will need your pin to do so. If you do not record your name, you will not be called for available substitute positions.
- Subfinder Online provides you with information regarding current and available sub jobs. In order to view all functions of this site, click on the Subfinder Online link then enter your last name and pin number. It is highly recommended that you review the tutorial link, located on the side bar menu, as it will provide you with step-by-step instructions of how to utilize Subfinder Online.
- Obtain an ID badge. Upon receipt of your pin number, applicant must come to the Human Resources office (1769 E Moody Blvd, Bunnell, FL) to obtain and ID badge which is required for admittance on school grounds.

STEP 5 - Substitute Teacher Assessment Test - All substitute teachers are required to take the Sub Instructor Online Assessment Test. All substitute teachers have one year from the date they are approved by the Board to pass the exam. An acceptable passing score is 85% or higher. Once you have received your PIN# and have registered via SubFinder, you can pick up a Substitute Teacher Handbook and Sub Instructor eTraining CD. This can be done the same day you obtain your ID badge.
