Thanks to the efforts of many Flagler County youth, on Saturday, December 1st, the Flagler County Youth Center donated over 1,000 food items to the Bunnell Food Pantry.
The Youth Center’s annual “Thanks “Giving” Week”, started Tuesday, November 12th and concluded on Tuesday, November 20th. The driving force behind this event was the Youth Center’s Student Advisory Council, who wanted to develop a program to thank community members and give something back to Flagler County residents. During these six days, Youth Center participants donated either a can of food or $1 dollar to obtain admission to the center. As a result of everyone’s efforts just over 300 cans and $300 was collected.
Tim Sherman, Assistant Manager of Albertsons Market, in Palm Coast, maximized FCYC’s cash earned and sold us over $500 dollars worth of canned vegetables and soup at cost, plus gave us a $50 donation to purchase additional items.
