Dear Education Partners:
What an exciting time, the beginning of a new school year and the announcement that the Flagler County Education Foundation will be funding the Classroom Teacher Mini-Grant Program for creative and innovative teaching projects. Applications, guidelines and score sheets are available on this website. The Foundation expects several thousand students to be directly impacted by the mini-grants, which can be funded this year up to $1,500.
The purpose of the Classroom Teacher Mini-Grant program is to find innovative ways to improve the performance of students through enhanced teaching and learning. The focus is on ideas, research and creative classroom strategies for which tax dollars are not available.
The mini-grants are part of a Statewide matching grant program designed to support classroom projects and strategies that bridge the gap between high performing and low achieving students. Half of the available dollars are State-generated, with the remaining funds donated by private individuals, business and professional organizations, and local corporations.
The deadline for submission to my office, located in the Curriculum Instruction Department, Government Service Building, is Friday, October 10, 2008. All winners will be announced on November 18th at the Flagler County School Board Meeting. All Principals should plan on attending this meeting. We urge you to take advantage of this unique opportunity. For more information on Mini-Grants, please contact me at brosen@flaglerschools.com.
Yours in education,
Nicole Brose
