NCLB
As a parent of a student in the Flagler County School District, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. Recent legislation, No Child Left Behind, requires districts to apprise parents of their rights in regard to the following information:
-
Whether Florida Department of Education has licensed or qualified your child's teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches.
-
Whether Florida Department of Education has decided that your child's teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances.
-
Your child's teacher's college major; whether the teacher has any advance degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees.
-
Whether any teachers' aides or similar paraprofessionals provide services to your child and, if they do, their qualifications.
If you would like any of this information, please call your child's school or contact Bette Lathan at 437-7526 for further clarification.
