WOW! Our first day of school was fantastic! I can't believe what a wonderful group of students I have. As a parent, I know how important it is to gather details about your child's first day of school. Here is a very detailed description of our day. 1. Students arrived and colored paper shirts. 2. We gathered for our first Morning Meeting on the carpet at the front of the room. First, I introduced myself. Then, I introduced the students and asked them to share their favorite candy with their new classmates. Finally, we had a contest to see who could name at least three new classmates. We had one student who was able to name six new students. How exciting! 2. The students learned three new songs today. (Taco Talkers, The Hush Song, and Move So Fine In Line) 3. We took a short field trip to our cafeteria and reviewed manners for the lunchroom. 4. We collected supplies and important papers. 5. We played a "Signature Game." 6. We ate lunch and went directly to Health Class with Mr. Howell. 7. We reviewed our behavior system. 8. The students made a "Mini-Me." We used our new creations to make a graph about how we were going home at the end of the day. 9. We took a field trip around our classroom. 10. I read some funny books written by Mo Willems. 11. We reviewed rules for the playground and then enjoyed fifteen minutes of recess. 12. The students wrote and shared their secret about Mrs. Lee. They also watched a short slideshow about Mrs. Lee's favorite things. 13. I passed out homework folders, planners, behavior calendars, and book logs. 14. The students packed up and got in their correct dismissal line. 15. I passed out a first day award. Overall, we had a very busy day. I'm looking forward to another fun day of learning tomorrow. Until next time, take care.
