My silent reading novel

This book was recommended by Ms. St. Francis in the media center.
The first thing I noticed about this book was its cover. It has the picture of a starlit night with an "oversized" moon ominously hanging over an isolated house. This house is the only one visible. It has a single light shining in one window. The ground is covered with snow.
As I flipped through the pages, I noticed the picture of a moon at the beginning of each chapter. I also noticed that this book was written in a diary format--1st person narration. This might also support the feeling of isolation I picked up from the cover.
There is an excerpt on the back as follows:
"The weather finally broke...for good.
December 10
It is a possibility only one of us is going to make it. We have fuel and we have water, but who knows how long our food will last...I don't want to live two weeks longer or three or four if it means none of us survive."
Cool!! A survival story! I'll let you know how it goes!
