"Friday Night Lights”: The Youth Center is now open on Friday nights starting November 30th, 2007, 6:00-9:00 PM. Any Flagler County middle school students in grades 6th-8th, are welcome to participate. Admission is free, but every student is required to have available their student ID Card. The Youth Center features two brand new Pool Tables as well as Ping- Pong, Foosball, Air Hockey, 4 Play Station 2’s , 4 Xbox’s, and 1 Xbox- 360. The Center also has a 24 station Computer Lab with games and high speed internet access. During your visit feel free to relax on one of our leather sofas while enjoying our 50” Widescreen TV with a DVD Player. The success of the FPCHS Football team has created the need to delay the start of “Friday Night Lights”, until the completion of their season. Once the event gets started, it is FCYC Staff’s plan to continue “Friday Night Lights”, throughout the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year!

Student Advisory Council: We now have accepted new members into the Student Advisory Council. The members were voted in October which include: Katelyn Mayle(Fr), Brandon Riddick(Fr), Stephanie Rivera(So), Ian Roles(Jr), and Michael White(So). All newly elected council members will be working with the entire SAC Committee which include: Michelle Anderson (Sr), Katie Branca (Sr), Carl Delesdernier (Sr), Frank Diebold (Jr), Lisa Grine (Sr), Chair, Tiffany Marino(Sr), Brandon Seminara(So), Chair Elect, and Angelia Whitehead (Sr). All Student Advisory Council members are looking forward to working together, and with Advisor Ms. Massaro, on various community projects.

Flagler County Roller Rink Update: Rink activity has greatly increased with “Open” skating on Wednesday & Friday nights, 6-9pm, under the lights! Any individual, 12 and up, and interested in playing Roller & Deck Hockey is welcome to attend. The start of “Friday Night Lights”, at the end of November, will be a perfect time for Middle School youth to try out the rink! Once interest is developed concerning Roller Hockey & Deck Hockey play, competitive and recreational leagues will be established. Until then, a variety of instructional workshops and clinics will be scheduled, for all age ranges, by Dan Lang,, Rink Manager, and his assistant, Vincent Checci. Anyone interested in Rink Activity is asked to contact the Youth Center for additional information, or stop by any Monday – Friday evening, and see activities, first hand.

Youth Center Attendance: In October, the success of the Flagler County Youth Center was supported by a daily average of 175 youth, voluntarily participating after school. Attendance numbers have been awesome, but have created a need to limit on site numbers, due to the space available. To help eliminate over crowding, once a capacity of youth are in the Youth Center, a waiting line will be established. As one student leaves the center, another will be permitted into the center. The Youth Center has become quite popular. The addition of the Roller Rink, and scheduled special events and activities, will only add to student participation, resulting in the need for crowd control measures.

FCYC’s Thanks *Giving* Week: Tuesday, November 13th – Wednesday, November 21st: Admission to the Youth Center, during this time frame, will require 1 Can of Non-Perishable vegetables OR $1.00, in addition to a Student ID card. ALL Food & Money collected will be donated to area Food Bank for Holiday Baskets. This is OUR opportunity to thank Flagler County Residents, for providing this wonderful recreational center for area youth and donate food for those in need, during this holiday season!
