“Make-It Take-It” is a program for at-risk students and adults with disabilities. It enables them to acquire problem solving skills and increase their self-esteem and confidence through the use of technology.
Flagler County Schools, Habitat for Humanity and the Institute for the Study of Digital Inclusion are recycling used computers and parts for a new program. Every machine is wiped clean and then used for spare parts or reconditioned by students in the program and given to students in Flagler County who do not own a computer.
The program is directed by Veronica Maggs of the Adult and Community Education Department of Flagler County District Schools. Students spend the first two weeks becoming familiar with software applications and the second two weeks having hands-on experience with computer hardware.
Students from the high schools and middle schools come after regular school hours and are transported by bus to the Flagler Technical Center on the campus of Matanzas High School , where the computers are set up and the program takes place.
Donations of old computers are vital to the success of our program. Please contact us when you have any computer equipment to donate. For
more information on this wonderful program, to please call Veronica Maggs, Adult Education, at 446 7612.
