Flagler County Adult and Community Education Department has operated the Flagler County School District's Driver Improvement Program since January 1993. Over the past 13 years, several programs have been successfully developed under the umbrella of the original project. Flagler County School District's Driver Improvement Program currently operates the following:
  • D.A.T.E. - The State of Florida requires all first time drivers to complete this four hour course on drugs, alcohol, tobacco and safe driving before obtaining a drivers license. The Flagler County School District's Driver Improvement Program provides this class available online at www.driving-permit.com.
  • B.D.I. - The Basic Driver Improvement program is a natural extension of our other driving programs. The State of Florida allows drivers who receive traffic citations not requiring course appearances to attend a certified four hour course on safe defensive driving. This course can eliminate or reduce the points attached to their driving record due to the moving violation ticket. This course is available online at www.driverimprovement4hour.com.
  • DUI School and Evaluations - DUI classes utilize a state approved curriculum. These classes include education on substance abuse, effects of alcohol and/or drugs to the body and the detrimental risks of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. DUI offenders receive an individual evaluation with a state certified evaluator and are referred to local substance abuse providers as needed for more intensive treatment. These classes are facilitated at the Bunnell Adult Literacy Center.
    .
  • Special Supervision Services - This service is provided along with case management services to individuals  who have their license revoked and qualify for a "business purpose only" license. A state certified special supervision services evaluator maintains this on-going case load. The Bunnell SSS office is currently the only office in the State of Florida managing out-of-state clientele.
  • T.A.G. - At the request of Flagler County Probation department, this program was developed as a four hour Thief Alternative Group (petite thief) which is facilitated on a quarterly basis for misdemeanor, adult offenders.

TIP: You can now go online and enter two (2) emergency contacts on your Florida Drivers License (electronically) which can only be retrieved by a police officer. This came about as a result of one woman's teenage daughter being killed in a car accident and taking over 5 hours to locate the mother to inform her. This way, if you are in an accident, the police can run the drivers license
and have the emergency info ASAP!!!
